Backyard’s Head Product Designer, Kevin Schneider, has spent the past three seasons testing and refining batting gloves alongside MLB All-Star Nick Castellanos. These gloves are the culmination of extensive development, real-world feedback, and performance validation—tested across 400+ MLB games.

Glove Details

    •    Tight, pebble-grain goatskin leather on the palm, fingertips, thumb, and top of hand. Goatskin is stronger than traditional options like Cabretta, allowing us to use thinner leather that delivers enhanced bat feel and responsiveness. It also retains its shape over time and performs far better in cold and high-sweat conditions, where Cabretta typically breaks down.

    •    Widened 2-inch neoprene cuff with elastic strap for enhanced wrist security and a locked-in feel through the swing.

    •    Breathable Lycra/Mesh between the fingers and across the hand back to maximize mobility and airflow. A leather patch adds structure where it’s needed most.

    •    Double-reinforced palm leather in high-wear and callus zones to extend durability under daily use.

    •    Seamless pinky construction for unmatched comfort and reduced irritation.

    •    Leather thumb break designed to improve mobility and natural hand movement.
